| No one can develop protection from
gonorrhoea. A person can be infected, cures and reinfected as often as there is sexual
contact with infected persons. Symptoms
The symptoms of gonorrhoea are different for male and female. Gonorrhoea often causes no
symptoms at all in women. However, gonorrhoea usually causes obvious symptoms in men.
In Women:
- sometimes there is usually vaginal discharge,
- sometimes there is burning sensation hen passing urine,
- symptoms of fever, chills, abdominal pain, and painful joints.
In Men:
- pain when passing urine
- yellow discharge from penis.
In men and women:
Infection in the anus sometimes causes discharge and irritation. The serious
complications of gonorrhoea can be avoided by early diagnosis and treatment. Complications
come about when the infection has spread
- to the prostate and testicles of men,
- to the tubes and ovaries of women, and
- to the blood stream of men and women.
Permanent damage to reproductive organs and joints may result.
To stop the spread and avoid the complications of gonorrhoea, infected persons must talk
honestly to their sex partners about the possibility of infection and the need to seek
treatment rapidly. |
