CONCEPTION
For any normal healthy woman of reproductive age, a ripe egg is released from the ovary every month.  This process is called "ovulation".

"Fertilization" can take place when the sperm and the egg meet in the fallopian tube.  During sexual intercourse, the man ejaculates and his seminal fluid which contains sperms is deposited in the vagina.  The sperms will swim up through the cervix into the uterus and some will enter the fallopian tubes.

The fertilized egg moves towards the uterus and begins a continuous process of cell division .  It implants in the uterus about 8 days after fertilization and develops into an embryo.

PRINCIPLES of BIRTH CONTROL
The development of birth control methods are based on research on the physiological processes and functions of the reproductive organs so as to prevent conception from taking place.  Couples who wish to practise family planing should therefore have a clear conception takes place, as well as the principle and procedure of each birth control method.

The common birth control methods are based on the following principles:
1.  to inhibit ovulation
2. to kill the sperms of reduce their motility
3. to prevent the sperms from meeting the egg
